October

This rainy week has left us with extra time inside. We were able to have gross motor time in the gymnasium. In our classroom, we explored the lights and shadows kit. Students brainstormed list of light sources. On Wednesday, students used STEM to work with light sources and numbers.  Each child took a turn using light source (head lamp, flash light, stand light) and shadow screen to show a number using their fingers for their classmates to guess. During collaborative learning time students were able to use a table top shadow screen, light sources and blocks to make their own creation.
Number one rule! Do not shine a flash light in your eyes or a friends eyes.

We are continuing to work on fine motor skills with scissors and reviewing how to hold writing utensil.  Students are familiar with Mat Man, Tap Tap Tap and Crayon Song(s). You can search for these on Youtube. Next week, we will start with shapes and letters in our handwriting book.

“Stories of God’s Love” will be introduced. We are adding more to our daily and weekly schedule.  It has been wonderful watching each and every student grow so much already this school year.
