October

This rainy week has left us with extra time inside. We were able to have gross motor time in the gymnasium. In our classroom, we explored the lights and shadows kit. Students brainstormed list of light sources. On Wednesday, students used STEM to work with light sources and numbers.  Each child took a turn using light source (head lamp, flash light, stand light) and shadow screen to show a number using their fingers for their classmates to guess. During collaborative learning time students were able to use a table top shadow screen, light sources and blocks to make their own creation.
Number one rule! Do not shine a flash light in your eyes or a friends eyes.

We are continuing to work on fine motor skills with scissors and reviewing how to hold writing utensil.  Students are familiar with Mat Man, Tap Tap Tap and Crayon Song(s). You can search for these on Youtube. Next week, we will start with shapes and letters in our handwriting book.

“Stories of God’s Love” will be introduced. We are adding more to our daily and weekly schedule.  It has been wonderful watching each and every student grow so much already this school year.

It's a new year!

Our first full week of school is almost finished! We are still working on learning school, center, outside and many other rules and routines. I have seen so much growth in each student since their first day of preschool. We have enjoyed meeting our music and pe teachers. We LOVE going to specials.
Please send your child’s purple folder everyday. They make beautiful artwork that needs a safe way to get home, along with other important papers.  Students should not be bringing toys from home to preschool. They will have an opportunity when we start Star of the Week to share items from home.
Don’t forget to join the closed Facebook group “Mrs. Chesling’s 2019-2020 All Day Preschool Class.” Check out what we have been doing in preschool this week!

There is no school Friday September 6, 2019.

There is school on Monday September 9, 2019 and it is picture day! We will see you then!
